Proposed Changes to SSA Competition Rules for 2003

 

Following is a summary of the competition rules changes for 2003 that is being submitted to the SSA Board of Directors for their approval in Dayton in January. A couple of minor “tweaks” have been omitted for brevity, but these and everything else discussed at the November meeting in Houston (84 items) can be found in the minutes of the meeting which are posted as a separate document.

 

Numbers with items refer to agenda number.

 

PST eliminated. MAT expanded to include aspects of PST. (38)

TAT authorized for Nationals. (32)

Drop a day experiment for regionals by waiver. (44)

Minimum TP size for all tasks increased to one mile with scored position to best fix. (36)

Eliminated prohibited legs. (40)

Multi-start option adopted for Nationals. (25)

Co-located contests entry limit of 65 (with waivers to 75 possible) added. (24)

Foreign entrants can fill all five slots reserved for them. (22)

Reduction of number of slots reserved for foreigners in contests with a limited entry. (8)

Defined cutoff time for standby entries. (10)

Adjustment added to maximum start height penalty. (56)

TAT/MAT time on course adjustment for scoring. (47)

New wording added regarding landings at bonus airports. (42)

New radio calls added for cylinder finish. (70)

Increased entry fee for Regionals to cover Winscore support. (54)

Added standards for tow ropes. (12)

Protest procedures were modified. (72)
